Christmas Scarf Competition

Design a Christmas themed scarf!

Our Christmas scarf competition has now closed.

Thank you to everyone who took part and sent us their wonderful creative designs.

Winners

With so many wonderful designs entered into our competition, we found it too difficult to choose. The Silk Bureau judges, scratched their heads deliberating over who should be awarded the prize. Should we choose something traditional? Should we choose something contemporary? In the end, we couldn’t decide and so we chose two!

We hope that you enjoy seeing and reading about the worthy winners and their entries.

“… my Christmas scarf design is inspired by possibly my favourite ever Christmas present, my Nutcracker Story Box. My parents managed to find and buy it for me last year after years of talking about the one I had when I was little.”

Nuthatch Grey

“…in Mr Mouse’s Vegetable Patch and he’s stumbled across some tasty root vegetables. Vibrant carrots, beetroots, and brussel sprouts await him beneath an Autumnal soft blue sky. Well, who can blame him? They do look good enough to eat!”

“Since the start of my brand, I have used The Silk Bureau to print and finish my luxury silk accessories.

Whilst I have had samples from other companies, The Silk Bureau’s quality of print and customer service is second to none.

Being invited for a tour around the factory was an absolute pleasure, and an amazing insight into the work and attention to detail that goes into each print run.”

Printing Scarves

Shrinkage

The processes involved in digital textile printing causes the original fabric to shrink. If you are printing scarves, the size of the finished product will be important to you. For example, if you have square artwork, you will be expecting your finished scarf to be square!

To get the printed fabric closer to the size you need, all fabric intended for scarves must go through an extra step to reshape it. Please allow extra time on your deadlines to allow for this process.

Let us introduce you to the …

Stenter

The stenter is an enormous piece of machinery that has many uses, including coating our fabrics and reshaping scarf orders.

After travelling through a solution to soften the fabric, it then passes over a flat bed, gripped on the selvedge edges to pull it back into shape.

It’s a long and precise process that needs to be carefully monitored.

Shrinkage Disclaimer

If you have selected to use our hemming service, we will check the stentered fabric for you before we begin to finish your scarves. If you are not using our service, it’s up to you to check the size BEFORE you cut out the individual scarves from the fabric length. We cannot re-size after your scarves have been cut out.
