New Scarf Printer

Double sided

The word is getting out that we have a new scarf printer!

Well, it’s true! And it’s not just any old printer. This one prints both sides of the fabric, which means full vibrant colour on the front and the back of your scarf. The only way to tell which is the front and which is the back of a scarf now is by comparing the shiny to the matt side!

How it works

The twin printer cartridges on our new printer work in unison to simultaneously print both sides of the fabric, while precisely aligning the identical artwork. Clever stuff indeed!

Silk fabrics

Once again, The Silk Bureau has invested in the latest technology to bring you the best quality in digital fabric printing.  We have been busy behind the scenes testing double-sided printing on our 14mm Silk Twill, 16mm Silk Satin, 18mm Silk Twill and Silk Wool Fine Rib. These are the only fabrics that we are offering for now, as they hold the dyes just beautifully and give the best results.

Scarf options

Of course, we will still be printing exceptional quality scarves in the traditional manner. Which is especially important for those who prefer a lighter weight fabric and are happy with the slight difference in front and back profiles.

"Honestly I don't know where to begin. We just received our silk colour strike off with the double sided printer! The colours and detail have brought a kaleidoscope of happiness to our HQ today! This is absolute magic! We love the double sided detail and couldn't be more impressed with how well the colours compliment our other products. Thank you so much for your help, support and information about the printing. This has opened a whole new chapter which we didn't think would be possible for us at this stage."

Printing Scarves

Shrinkage

The processes involved in digital textile printing causes the original fabric to shrink. If you are printing scarves, the size of the finished product will be important to you. For example, if you have square artwork, you will be expecting your finished scarf to be square!

To get the printed fabric closer to the size you need, all fabric intended for scarves must go through an extra step to reshape it. Please allow extra time on your deadlines to allow for this process.

Let us introduce you to the …

Stenter

The stenter is an enormous piece of machinery that has many uses, including coating our fabrics and reshaping scarf orders.

After travelling through a solution to soften the fabric, it then passes over a flat bed, gripped on the selvedge edges to pull it back into shape.

It’s a long and precise process that needs to be carefully monitored.

Shrinkage Disclaimer

If you have selected to use our hemming service, we will check the stentered fabric for you before we begin to finish your scarves. If you are not using our service, it’s up to you to check the size BEFORE you cut out the individual scarves from the fabric length. We cannot re-size after your scarves have been cut out.
