New Price List 2022

Our new Price List for 2022 is out. If you haven’t had your copy yet, then please email info@silkbureau.co.uk and we will send you one.

We value our customers, delight in printing the most creative designs and playing our part in turning dreams into reality. In recognition of the mutual support we value, we have strived to keep our prices as low as we could for some time now.

There is never a good time or a desire to increase prices, however we can no longer hold and absorb the increases in raw materials and base fabrics which we have seen over the last 12 months. Coupled with rising energy costs, air and sea transportation costs (which have more than doubled over the last few years), and the impact of the Pound’s depreciation against both the Dollar and the Euro, it has unfortunately created an untenable pricing situation.

Fabric by fabric

We have not, however, taken the decision just to arbitrarily increase our prices across the board; instead, we have looked at our entire fabric range, including the associated processing costs for each, and adjusted the prices line by line, fabric by fabric. We have done this with the aim of mitigating the increases to you, as much as possible.

New Price Band

To help as much as we can we have also introduced a new 10-20 metre price band and hope that you will find this of benefit. There are many instances where prices per metre are lower than they were previously!

We would like to reassure you that this is not a decision that we have taken lightly and hope that you will understand the reasons for the price changes we have introduced.

New Fabrics

To increase the ECO fabric range further, we have introduced 2 new GOTS certified silks to the range. There are even more new fabric bases planned, and we will be adding those after they have been tested. Keep checking for new releases!

Printing Scarves

Shrinkage

The processes involved in digital textile printing causes the original fabric to shrink. If you are printing scarves, the size of the finished product will be important to you. For example, if you have square artwork, you will be expecting your finished scarf to be square!

To get the printed fabric closer to the size you need, all fabric intended for scarves must go through an extra step to reshape it. Please allow extra time on your deadlines to allow for this process.

Let us introduce you to the …

Stenter

The stenter is an enormous piece of machinery that has many uses, including coating our fabrics and reshaping scarf orders.

After travelling through a solution to soften the fabric, it then passes over a flat bed, gripped on the selvedge edges to pull it back into shape.

It’s a long and precise process that needs to be carefully monitored.

Shrinkage Disclaimer

If you have selected to use our hemming service, we will check the stentered fabric for you before we begin to finish your scarves. If you are not using our service, it’s up to you to check the size BEFORE you cut out the individual scarves from the fabric length. We cannot re-size after your scarves have been cut out.
