Print a parachute.

It’s not everyday we get asked to print a parachute. But just take a look at the results. Silk printing with a difference.parachute print
This is the very impressive installation for Henrietta Simson’s final project for her PhD thesis. Titled

‘(Don’t) Fall on Me, Arena Chapel’

The panoramic photograph of Giotto’s frescos taken in Padua, Italy was digitally printed on 47 metres of our 100% silk Habotai. Henrietta told us “I liked the idea of a parachute as a metaphor for the experience of ‘sky’, and falling through it, or ‘into’ it.” We couldn’t have imagined that the 2D print was gong to become this dramatic 4.5 metre diameter 3D piece.

There is an opportunity to see it as it is part of the Slade MA/MFA degree show and is open to the public between 9 – 19 June, 10am-8pm weekdays and 10am-5pm on weekends (weather permitting).

We wish Henrietta all the very best for her degree show and future career path.
