We were delighted to welcome Amelia Anderson to the Silk Bureau for the day. Selected as the winner of our Interiors repeat pattern competition she was set to work when it came to claiming her prize.
The ‘hands on’ visit took Amelia through each department, experiencing the work involved in digital textile printing at every stage of the process.
Sophie from our CAD team, shares hints and tips about preparing and saving artwork ready for print. Checking the repeat and specifications in our specialist software Amelia gets an insight into technical issues that can affect print.
Checking details of the print heads, alignment of image and setting up for print. Shaun, our Sublimation specialist points out some of the finer details to look out for in digital print.
As every print goes through our quality control department checking the fabric for any print problems needs an attentive eye while being printed and when preparing for dispatch.
In Despatch the fabric is rolled and ready to go. Wrapped in ‘anti-static’ bags, we have no need to send by Courier with Amelia on-site to carry it away with her.
We have thoroughly enjoyed hosting Bath Spa’s winning student and lecturing staff visit for the day and privileged to have an advanced glimpse at some of Amelia’s final project work. The hand drawn elements, composition and colour choices are extremely well considered. She will certainly have an impressive Degree Show in June at the School of Art and Design – Sion Hill.
